With this crazy world we live in today, I understand why some go over the top to provide for someone else, whichever form of providing that is. If you’re one of those individuals that goes over and beyond to make sure that others are okay, you’re one of the few and rare.
Nobody said it was a bad thing. I commend those who do it. However, we all need to realize how important it is to take care of ourselves as well. As much as these people in our lives may need something, we also need things.
There are people in your life that are so used to you doing things for them that they begin to lack appreciation for your effort. Not to say that it’s a bad thing on them, for often times they don’t realize it’s happening. Regardless, it sucks. You probably tell yourself, “I’d do anything for you at any given time and you don’t even care.” Odds are…they don’t care anymore. They’re used to what you do.
This is where you need to make a change. You’re probably exhausted from all that you do for other people and chances are you have some things in your own life to tend to. You are allowed to say no. I repeat: you are allowed to say no. If you are tired (in any form of the word), you are allowed to say no. The other person is supposed to be understanding. And if he/she isn’t then he/she probably didn’t deserve your energy in the first place. You are absolutely allowed to take time to yourself. It isn’t healthy to continuously give to others and not to yourself. You are your own prize. You are your own joy. Work on yourself, make sure you’re stable, then decide to give your all to others.
Stay positive.
