Free Yourself

As spontaneous as I can be, I’m a very hesitant person. That may not make sense, but at the same time it does.

  1. I fear judgement. I don’t want people to tell me that what I wish to do is wrong or unacceptable. Though it may seem I don’t care a lot of the time, I also don’t like receiving negative opinions.
  2. I think of the worst case scenarios. I’m very good at overthinking things to the point that I believe that everything I wish to do will lead to some type of serious illness or death. Overdramatic…trust me I know.

But if there’s anything I learned in 2016, it’s that you have to take risks. What fun is life if you don’t step out of your comfort zone? If you can evaluate something and see that the consequences of whatever you want to do are rational, there’s no reason you shouldn’t do it. Fall in love with someone unconditionally. Take a trip that you’ve wanted to take. Go after what you really want to do. I can almost promise that the reward will outweigh the consequences that are in your head. And yes, you may fail, but it’s better to say you tried than to never try at all. Sometimes you have to do now and apologize later. Don’t care about what people have to say. Some people will like it, some people won’t. Who cares? Your happiness will always be more important than someone else’s opinion. Remember: be healthy, be safe, and don’t hurt anyone (that includes yourself). It’s time for all of us to just do these things already.

“Make the most of yourself…for that is all there is of you.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson
