Baby Steps to Success

It’s funny people tell me quite often that I should write about my life because, hello, I do have a blog, But people having to bring it up reminds me of something important:

I don’t write as often as I need to.

I talk about writing being my release and how I love blogging and poetry and how I’ve recently begun writing for my University’s newspaper and the list goes on and on but sometimes it’s nothing more than talk. People interested in writing write every single day and all the stinking time. Yet here I am, writing about how I just don’t write enough (when was my last post anyway? Like the 4th? Okay Chantelle.)

This is not a means of bullying myself or calling myself a failure but a reminder that the only way to get better at something is if you keep working at it. It’s been a prevalent theme in my life lately (Mark Manson wrote in his book of how people aren’t extraordinary at something unless they put the work in to do so) and it’s an important reminder.

If something means something to me and I want to be better at it, the only thing to do is continue to work. This includes accepting whatever comes with it: the failures, the successes, the tears and the celebrations.

And in case you’re interested in a book purely related to success, Deepak Chopra’s The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success: A Practical Guide to the Fulfillment of your Dreams is a good start.

  1. I enjoy your writing style and how eloquently you express yourself. In reading, i feel i can gauge your oratorical skill. I’m definitely a fan of your expression. Dopeness.
